A research team led by Ted Butryn, Institute for the Study of Sport, Society and Social Change (ISSSSC) interim founding director and SJSU kinesiology professor, was invited for second year to Los Angeles to participate in the Sports and the Role Societal Issues Play event in coordination with the ESPN Sports Humanitarian Awards and Beyond Sport. More than 40 corporate social responsibility professionals from pro teams, leagues and corporate partners attended this year’s town hall centered on engaging with and empowering youths in their communities, where Butryn’s team moderated breakout sessions on how to best deliver programming to youths, and then delivered a presentation on action items designed to aid the professionals in their efforts.
